The headline is funny right? This headline could qualify for the biggest joke of the century, but sadly it isn't a joke. The music star took to his Instagram page to share the 'good news' with his fans.
I love Mr Idibia's music; African Queen is one of my favourite song and I took my time to learn the lyrics of the song. The song is very good and it's ever green. I respect the fact that he is one of the very few talented music star we have in Nigeria but conferring him with a honorary degree is a slap in the face of men and women who have gone the extra mile in the pursuit of academic excellence.
I personally have a master degree and I know how much time, energy and hard work I did put to earn my degree and it's a shame that an honorary degree is to be presented to someone who can't even express himself.
Some people would opine that it's a private university that lacks reputation but the fact still remains that it is a university and it's recognised.
Mr Idibia is undeserving of an honorary degree and I think declining the offer would have been the most ideal but then again, he is human and it is only natural for him to ybe greedy.
Dear Igbinedion University, I have just a phrase for you; shame on you and to Mr Idibia; let your conscience be your judge.
